US Daily Student Announcement – May 16

1. There will be a noon meeting for NAHS in conference room on Wednesday this week. Plans for the remainder of the year and for next year will be discussed. Dues will be taken. Bring your 20 rmb.

2. HS Student Council: As usual, we will have a meeting on Wednesday during lunch. Please be on time!

3. PROM! All 11th and 12th graders, don’t forget to buy your and your invite’s prom tickets before Friday May 18! You can buy them during lunch or from Ms. Nelson. Don’t forget!

4. Attention Men’s Varsity Basketball Players: Woody/Henry/Richie/Alex/Jared/Marc/Hun/Denny/Kyle and Women’s Varsity Basketball Players: Sunida/Kaitlin//Jenna. You HAVE NOT returned your basketball uniforms. Some of you promised to bring them yesterday – you didn’t – Do so NOW! (Congratulations to Kim Kim who escaped my wrath by bringing it in yesterday).

5. June 5th 3:15-5:00 Athletics Recognition Event. If you played on an SCIS team this year you are expected to be there. Music/Video/Food and Fun. Plan to be there and wrap up the season the right way.

6. Any students interested in helping Mr. DeNeef create the sport video collage commemorating our year in athletics – see Mr. DeNeef (preferably today). CAS  hours may be available.

US Daily Student Announcement – May 14

1. ALL STUDENTS Tuesday night is our Film Spectacular Spectacular!! Join us at 6:30 in the auditorium for a wonderful night of films from middle school to high school. JUNG WOO will be walking the red carpet! If you plan to attend, please make sure to sign up for the bus with Stu. PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO SIGN UP FOR THE BUS.

2. All school sports uniforms (except MS basketball) should now be returned to your coaches. Payment notices will begin being produced this week. If you haven’t returned your uniform – DO IT NOW!

Parent-Organized Graduation Party

Dear All,

The parents of the Class of 2012 and first IB cohort have organized a graduation party on Saturday, June 9th, from 7- 10 pm on board the Captain 2 Huang-Pu River Cruise Ship. The parents of our 12th grade students would like to invite all upper school families to attend. Tickets for the event are 300 RMB including Asian/Western buffet, free flow of soft drinks, and DJ-inspired dancing on the top deck “under the stars”. Summer Space School Informational Meeting

If you are looking for something interesting for your son or daughter to do this summer, HASSE is a possibility.  The Houston Association for Space and Science Education, in a partnership with NASA, hosts Space School in Houston, Texas, for kids between the ages 12-18 during the summer months.  If you are interested in learning more about HASSE and it’s program, there will be an informational meeting held in Shanghai on May 12.  The information for this gather can be found below.

US Daily Student Announcement – May 8

1. NAHS- 2 important meetings on Tues and Thurs NAHS will be accepting names for people who want to take leadership positions for next year at Tues lunch meeting. This is also the time to put your name on the list with what you can contribute for next year. Thursday lunch is the voting. Be there!

2. HS STUCO: Buy your tickets now for the Junior and Senior Prom on May 26th at Kathleen’s 5! Grades 9 and 10 may only attend as guests of the upperclassmen. Tickets can be purchased during HS lunch or from Ms. Nelson! Ticket sales END May 18th, so be sure to gets yours soon! Everyone attending the Prom will need to submit a signed permission slip by May 24th to Ms. Nelson, room 202. Please see Ms. Nelson or members of the HS Student Council if you have any questions. See you there!

3. HS Student Council: There will be a meeting on Wednesday during lunch in Ms. Nelson’s room, as usual. Even if it is near the end of the year, you still need to show up. Thank you!

4. HS Students: Anyone interested in running for a position of next year’s HS student council? President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, or the new position as Pep Club Leader? If you are interested feel free to approach Ms. Nelson for more information! The only condition is at least one year of Student Council experience, preferably at our school.

5. All Dragon Athletes – if your sport is finished your uniform should be in the hands of your coach. If you haven’t returned your uniform DO IT TODAY.

6. All MUN students – remember our meeting after school today! Those attending the conference in Suzhou this Saturday attendance is obligatory. If you have music rehearsal for the concert tomorrow, please make sure that you check in to receive announcements. See you guys after school.

Early Childhood Production

Dear Parents,

The spring production for our Pre-School, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten students is on Thursday, May 10th at 10:00am at the SCIS Lower School. The theme of the event is “Summertime,” and students are preparing to put on a great show.

New Summer Camp from INSiGHT Adventures

Sticking around Shanghai for the summer?  Your kids have nothing to do?  Our partner in China Trips, INSiGHT Adventures, is proud to announce a summer camp for children ages 9 – 16 in the Shanghai region.

INSiGHT’s Summer Camp will produce a safe, vibrant community of campers and staff who learn to respect each other and their environment. INSiGHT desires to give kids opportunities to get out of the house in to the outdoors, try on new games and activities, create friendships with new people and spiced with most important ingredient, fun!

Using INSiGHT’s experience with school groups, a program has been created of an action packed week that kids will love! Our experienced guides will be leading campers to ensure the same high quality is continued in programs designed to beat the summer time boredom and stagnation!
